This is week 8 of your photo challenge and Inspiration for this week’s photos is Dark.
We need light in photography so we can expose our photos. What if you were to limit the light, what would that do to your photos?
One technique I like to do is limit the light source to only a section of my subject, expose for the highlights and let the shadows work themselves out. It works well with portraits in a cluttered room to bring the eye to the subject.
If you have access to off camera flash, this would be a good time to use it.
Some ideas of photos to get you started are:
- Candlelight for a portrait. Don’t be afraid of shadows they can help your photo to look more interesting
- Recreate one of your favourite photos but in a darker Moody way
- Night photography or star trails
- Leave the lens cap on, Just kidding 🙂
When posting on social media, use the hashtags #yop #yearofphotos so you can see what other photographers are creating.
Photo challenges as always better with a friend, so make sure to you share this challenge.
